School Family Worker

I’m Jacqueline Hooton, and I’m the school family worker at Pinewood School.

I’m the school family worker so I can help with anything related to the family that helps your child to learn in school. This includes attending school and taking part in their learning. I can help support with the PIP, the Personal Independence Payment (previously the DLA). This involves helping you fill out the form and sending in information to accompany the form. I can also assist with any other types of forms you may have that require support, such as housing.

If you need assistance with your child’s behaviour in school or at home, I’m the person to come to. I can provide tips and strategies and send you lots of information about rewards, consequences, and how to communicate with your child to motivate them. There are numerous things I can help with.

School family work is one part of my role. Another part is managing attendance on a day-to-day basis. This involves working with families. If there is an issue with attendance, I’m here to help. I can come to your home and support you with getting your child back into school. We can talk, and I can conduct virtual sessions. If you have any other issues, please contact me, and if I can’t help or support you, I will signpost you. Generally, I can help where possible. I can assist with social stories, specific needs, reward charts, behaviour charts, or any type of charts. I can also accompany you to appointments, providing support for CAMHS appointments, PALMS appointments, child in need meetings, and interactions with other professionals.
