What Ms Hooton has to say …
Bereavement
Short Definition:
When a person is bereaved it means that a loved one, or someone else important to them, has died. We tend to use the term ‘bereavement’ to describe the period after someone has died in which people who cared about them are grieving.
What is Grieving?
Most people who are bereaved experience grief, which involves feeling lots of different emotions in response to the death of the person.
Ms Hooton’s Useful Tips:
- When you are ready, talk to someone on your network about how you are feeling.
- Feeling angry, sad, numb, stressed, any feeling is OK.
- Don’t worry about upsetting anyone. Talk honestly. Others would prefer you to talk about your thoughts and feelings.
- People do not know how to behave with you. They don’t want to upset you anymore. Start the conversation. Just be honest and speak from the heart.
- It’s Ok to say : “I don’t want to talk about it now” But do talk about it later.
- When you are ready to talk. There are many ways to remember the person or pet that you love.
