Arranging a Meet

How to arrange a Google Meet via Google Classroom

Google Classroom’s new feature allows you to create meetings which will run via Google Meet, so you can easily contact Students. For more information about Classroom Link Recording permissions, access; and sharing, please view this video


Firstly, ensure you are logged into Google Classroom, and press on the Settings cog on the top right hand corner …

Once there, scroll down to your ‘General’ settings and click on ‘Generate Meet Link’ …

A Google Meet link will then be generated …

The URL will automatically be visible for students to view. You can turn this off by clicking on the button below …

Clicking on the dropdown arrow next to the link will allow you to ‘Reset’ it. This will then disable the old link and provide you with a new one …

You will then need to press on ‘Save’ on the top right hand corner to confirm your changes …

Once saved, you will be redirected back to the class stream page. The Meeting link, if visible, will appear on the header to the classroom. This is also where the students will see it …

Student’s can only join meetings this way if a teacher is present. If a student tries to join a meeting without a teacher present, they will see the below screen …

Once you have finished your meeting, even if you leave, the students will be left in the room. You will have to remove them manually, by accessing the ‘People’ Menu, clicking on dropdown next to the student(s) name(s), and clicking the ‘Remove’ button …

When creating an assignment or another piece of classwork, you are able to attach meeting links …

You will have to copy the link from your Classroom’s class stream banner, or copy it from your Classroom’s settings page, paste it into the below box, and click ‘Add Link’ …

Students are also able to access the meeting by visiting the ‘Classwork’ page, and pressing on ‘Meet’ …
