Start by opening the Google Classroom app. You will be able to see the screen which looks like the below, which has all of classrooms listed …

A side panel will then expand. Press on ‘Settings’. You may need to scroll down to find this if your device’s screen is smaller …

Press on ‘Notifications’ …

You will then be greeted with the below screen. Pressing on the slider next to ‘Email notifications’ at the top will allow you to turn all of them off or on (If the slider is blue they are enabled, and if they are grey it means disabled). You can then individually customise options by using the remaining sliders below …

Pressing on ‘Class notifications’ will allow you to individually customise notification preferences based on the classes you are in …

You can also change your preference for whether you would like Push notifications sent to your mobile device. To do this, press on the below button, which currently says ‘Enabled’ …

Your mobile device’s settings app will then open. You can make any further changes in there …
